Office Depot Parting Ways with Tony Stewart; Capping Off Bad Day in Atlanta

It was announced Sunday afternoon that Office Depot would be parting ways with Tony Stewart and his Stewart Haas Racing team at the conclusion of the 2012 season.

Tony Stewart will once again be handed the burden of finding another co-primary sponsor for his No. 14 chevy for the 2013 season.

Mobil 1 is set to return as a primary backer for about half of the races in the 2013 season for Stewart, the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion will have to find a sponsor to fork out the bucks for the rest of those races.

Tony Stewart is also searching for a sponsor on Ryan Newman's No. 39 machine, The U.S. Army announced they were parting ways with Newman earlier in the year.

If those matters weren't bad enough Sunday, Stewart again had a frustrating day after starting on the pole at Atlanta.

He quickly went the wrong direction in the early stages of the 500-mile race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday night and wound up finishing a disappointing 22nd, one-lap down.

This recent skid for Stewart has seen him fall to tenth in the points standings, Stewart will however make it into the Chase for the Sprint Cup at the very worst via a wild-card spot.

If Stewart falls out of the top-ten and is forced to use one of the wild-card spots he will have to forfeit all of the bonus points that are associated with those three wins.
