Brian Vickers enters 2013 season with new teams: Job Gibbs Racing, he will be running full time- Dollar General Toyota Camry is primary sponsor for season.
They also announced that they will increase number of race sponsor for 12 to 17 on the Sprint Cup car shares with The Home Depot to be driven by Matt Kenseth starting in 2013.
Matt Kenseth is leaving at end of this year to be with Joe Gibbs Racing for Sprint Cup Series, he will be running No. 20 Dollar General car starting in Feb. for Daytona 500.
Vickers will also be run a partial schedule for Michael Waltrip Racing's Sprint Cup Series next season, starts in the team's No. 55 ride while Mark Martin and Waltrip sharing car like that did this season.
The 29-year-old Vickers has not driven full time in the Nationwide Series since his 2003 title for Hendrick Motorpsorts. Vickers moved to the Cup Series in 2004 with Hendrick Motorsports; he joined Red Bull Racing in 2007.
“Brian has proven to be successful in everything he has raced,” JGR team owner Joe Gibbs said.
“I am fortunate to have raced with Dollar General before, and I am so excited to be reunited with Rick (Dreiling, Dollar General chairman and CEO) and everyone involved with their program,” said Vickers on the JGR website. “Dollar General is a tremendous company, and its support and enthusiasm for racing is outstanding. I’m very happy to stay in the Toyota family, and when you look at the Nationwide Series over the past several years, no team has dominated like Joe Gibbs Racing. Hopefully we’ll be able to get Dollar General, Toyota and JGR a Nationwide Series Championship next season.”
