NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Qualifying from Talladega SuperSpeedway
44 cars qualified for 43 spots this afternoon.
This race a disadvantage for the go and go homer cars because since this race is an impound race if they make the race they are going to be at a major disadvantage during the race because the qualifying setup will be loaded into their car. You can't touch the setup of your car after this qualifying session. The first chance they have to change something in their car is tomorrow during the first pit stop of the race.
This qualifying session takes a very long time because of the length of this track, if NASCAR allowed two cars to qualify at the same time it sure would move things along a little better.
Jeff Gordon earned his 71st career pole today, 3rd on the all-time list, first since this race last year.
